Life is such an irony: she that has
oily skin doesn't want the oil; she that has dry skin will willingly swim in an
ocean of oil.
Being on the dry skin side of life that cracks, flakes or
peels constantly has its own challenges when it comes to applying makeup; Instead
of letting your makeup come out beautifully, it actually makes your facial imperfections,
wrinkles and facial lines appear even more visible.
Just like oily skin, dry skin is also a natural skin
condition formed from genes/hormones.
Here’s the good news: ALL MAKEUP
PRODUCTS contain oil; oil is exactly what you need to make a dry skin flake-less,
radiant and flawless…..sounds like problem solved, right!
Here are more tips:
1. Number One Key Control:
use lots and lots of moisturizers every day. The best way to keep your makeup
intact is to use a moisturizer before applying your makeup; especially around
the areas that tend to squeeze or look wrinkled.
2. Maintain a Skin Routine:
go for oil based cleansers and soaps. Exfoliating the dead skin cells is also
important but do not do this frequently to avoid more skin dryness.
3. Use liquid or rolling eye pencils to fill your brows: they have a creamy texture which a dry skin craves for. Normal
eyebrow pencils and fillers on dry skin will easily flake and make facial lines
visible.
4. Look for Liquid Type Makeups: For foundations or concealers, your best bet would be to
use the tube/bottle liquid type makeup products; they are very creamy with
great coverage that fills in facial lines, pores and wrinkles. It is another
secret weapon for dry skin control. Avoid products with oil control formula. Go
for products like Iman Luxury Radiance
Liquid Makeup, Clinique Supermoisture Makeup, Bobbi Brown Extra Repair
Foundation, Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation, M.A.C Mineralize
Moisture Foundation, Black Opal True Colour Liquid Foundation, Mary Kay TimeWise Luminous Wear Liquid Foundation and so
on.
5. If your skin gets very dry, cracks
and flakes, you can skip powder application
6. Shimmer is your best friend: Anything that adds more shine or greasiness to your face is
good for you; Go for shimmery or creamy eye shadow, blush or bronzers.
7. Use Moisture Based Mattifiers or Primers: It will help your
foundation or concealer last longer.
8. Stick to balms and lip gloss: If you have to use a lipstick; use a lip primer or balm as base
before the lipstick.
Hope this helps!
